I grew up in the midwest and when winter vacation came around every year we always went to Florida. It was known that my family would come back sunkissed with a tan. Everyone would say how great we looked; our skin would be glowing, our teeth looked whiter, and we had more confidence. Little did we know we were setting ourselves up for problems in the future. As I entered my high school years my mom would warn my sisters and I of the damaging effects of the sun. Skin cancer and wrinkles seemed like a myth and we felt we were resilient, nothing would ever happen to us. Naively we thought if we needed to get rid of wrinkles we could always get surgery - no big deal. Little did we know how wrong we were. In addition to baking in the sun on warm days, in the winter months I began to use tanning beds. It was a quick 10 minutes in a machine and gave me an instant glow. It truly became an addiction that I was chained to for over 12 years. Shortly after my second child was born I was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma on my back, it was extremely terrifying and scary and I never expected that I would get this diagnosis. I changed my entire mindset and cold turkey stopped tanning beds and laying out. I still craved that sun kissed glow and found a safe alternative. I began getting spray tanned weekly. I may still have an addiction- but now it's a healthy one that won't cost my life.

Unlike most companies who have just one or two colors to spray you with, each of our spray-tans are uniquely blended with a precise mixture of solution to ensure a thoughtful, natural looking tan that is customized to your exact desire. Once I am finished (around 30 minutes per tan), I fold back the tent and go! It's simple, easy, and leaves behind zero trace of tanning solution. The tanning solution is high quality and odor-free. Bronzed by Adina tans last for 7 days or more. The spray tan is done with a vegetable based, organic product, and is customized to go as dark or light as you would like. The spray is applied by hand by Adina, an experienced tanning artist. A very natural color is used to match your skin tone and your requests. There is an even application and no tan lines.

The Classic spray tan takes about 8 hours to completely develop and therefore, clients should not shower until after 8 hours from the time they are sprayed. If you had the Express Tan solution you may shower after 1 hour for a light tan, Two hours for a medium tan or Three hours for a dark tan. Because a DHA tan takes 8 hours to completely develop, no matter how quickly you shower, you should expect to see your full tan after 8 hours.

Is spray tanning safe?

The FDA has tested and approved DHA for use on the skin. There are no studies that indicate spray tanning is hazardous for people.
How does spray tan work?
Dihydroxyacetone (or DHA for short) is the tanning ingredient in all self-tanning formulas. DHA creates a tanned appearance by developing a brown color on the surface of the skin thus creating a tanned appearance. DHA is a colorless 3-carbon sugar that when applied to the skin causes a chemical reaction with amino acids in the surface cells of the skin producing a darkening effect. DHA does not damage skin as it only affects the outermost cells of the epidermis, the outer layer of skin. The development of color takes anywhere from 6 to 8 hours and the intensity of color is dependent upon the DHA concentration in the product as well as each person’s skin type. The tan typically lasts 5 to 7 days and begins to fade as the top layer of skin cells naturally sheds.

How do I prep for a spray tan?
To get the longest life from a spray tan, it is crucial to exfoliate prior to the spray tan application and to moisturize daily after the application.
What do I wear to get spray tanned?
You should wear dark loose clothing to the appointment. During the Spraytan you can wear a bikini, swimsuit, or whatever you feel most comfortable in.
My Tan disappeared with my first rinse off–is my tan gone?
No, your tan is not gone. DHA (the active tanning ingredient in our spray tan solutions) requires between eight to twelve hours to fully develop into your final tan; So while you washed off the visible bronzer, your tan will continue to develop as the day goes by, but will be unharmed by rain, swimming, and exercise! So don’t be worried when you rinse off in the shower and see the bronzer color go down the drain–your tan will gradually deepen into a beautiful, flawless tan over the course of the next several hours!
